When you install the microsoft-web-helpers package to a standard ASP.NET MVC 3 application it does not run first time due to some missing DLLs.

The install package:

The error:

To fix this error the project needs to reference the WebMatrix.Data.dll and WebMatrix.WebData.dll from the C:\Program Files\Microsoft ASP.NET\ASP.NET Web Pages\v1.0\Assemblies folder.

In Web.config add the following lines to the System.Web\Compilation\assemblies location:

<add assembly="WebMatrix.Data, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35" />
<add assembly="WebMatrix.WebData, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35" />

You can now use the Facebook, Twitter, Gravatar, Bing, Video, LinkShare etc helpers Smile

To change the default browser in Visual Studio 2010 you can use the excellent World of VS Default Browser Switcher extension.

It adds a browser chooser toolbar (View –> Toolbars –> Default Browser Switcher) and ‘View In Browser’ options when .aspx files are right-clicked.

The Toolbar is especially useful for ASP.NET MVC projects as they don’t allow the standard ‘Browse with..’ right-click options
